New Year's Eve is amateur night, many of those people are driving home drunk for the first time. I just stay at home, it's safer.

Every New Year I often spend time at home with family and fireworks. Instead of going out on the highway it is so congested that it makes you dizzy.

Yes. New Year's eve and the first day of the year are always spent at home! At least that is how it is for us.

Yes plenty of times I have been alone for many years in my life. So that staying alone for entire new year is not that much of an issue.

Setting off fireworks is forbidden in my country.  You can get a big fine if you do it. They are not even allowed to be sold.
