COVID-19 has forced a lot of unwelcome changes on our society and what is and is not 'allowed'. Will you celebrate Christmas with family or friends  this year?

No celebration for us here. Maybe just a regular dinner and nothing more.

I've been invited to a dinner but I likely won't go to it

Just a simple dinner at home with the family. No friends, no other relatives, visitors whatsoever. Reunions, parties, any gatherings are not allowed even carolers were prohibited this year. I don’t want to say it will not be merry, just a different kind of merry from the usual “merry” Christmas that we know. I don’t want to dwell on what’s not and what used to be.  I just choose to be happy with whatever simple celebration we can do and be thankful we reached the last month of the year healthy and together. I pray we all be safe and next year be better for the world.

I think I have a great excuse to not go to a dinner I didn't really want to go to anyway this year...

You sure do have a very legit excuse, no explanations needed hehe.
