Our city is hit by earthquake 25 times early this morning

We are thankful that we are safe after a 4.6 tremor rocks our small city early this morning. It's strong that has lasted for several seconds. 

Magnitude 4.6 is the 25th recorded by the Phivocs at 2 am while the first is magnitude 3.4 recorded at 4 pm yesterday. In between were quakes in low magnitude. 

The origin of the earthquake is tectonic according to the Phivocs.

Lots of bad things are happening to the world.  Besides the pandemic here in India we have the Chinese invading, there is locust menace and you are having earthquakes.  Hope everything disappears.

I am not scared with that magnitude but what I'm scared of is the so called aftershocks.

Why? What should the people afraid of aftershocks? Are they dangerous than the first quake?
